Project OverviewBechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on Terra Power’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. Terra Power will deploy a 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium, with an innovative molten salt energy storage system to complement solar and wind power.
The plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power.
The Construction Coordinator (mechanical equipment) acts as a representative of the construction functional group and serves as a link between Construction, Engineering, Procurement and client representatives. Responsibilities include reviewing vendor equipment submittals for constructability, transportation, rigging and lifting; assessing design for constructability, modularization or pre-assembly options; addressing deficiencies in vendor submittals; planning lifts and rigging with Bechtel rigging representatives; coordinating equipment delivery to Bellevue, WA and Kemmerer, WY;
traveling to vendor shops to inspect equipment; and providing constructability input to improve safety and quality. This role located in the Terra Power home office in Bellevue, WA is part-time telework with travel to vendor sites and Kemmerer, WY. Travel requirement is expected to be 35% or less.
This position may require three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project, with weekly schedules determined collaboratively by the individual and supervisor.
Major ResponsibilitiesAct as the subject matter expert for equipment in interactions with the client and vendors.
Review vendor submittals with emphasis on constructability and options for pre-assembly or modularization to reduce site construction time.
Plan and coordinate transportation, rigging, and lifting of equipment.
Develop site assembly plans and storage/maintenance manuals; suggest corrective actions for transportation, rigging and lifting issues observed in vendor submittals.
Collaborate with Rigging, Construction, Procurement and Expediting to ensure timely delivery to Bellevue, WA and Kemmerer, WY sites.
Visit vendor sites to inspect equipment during fabrication and work with vendor representatives to streamline delivery and installation.
Provide constructability input during early design phases to improve construction safety and quality.
Contribute to overall construction plans, layouts, and organization; review quality control implementation and participate in project meetings as required.
Communicate significant issues and solutions to field and office project teams; assist with expediting and procurement for timely delivery of items.
Assist in preparation and review of construction cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
Bachelor's degree and 8-10 years of experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs (extensive walking on site, climbing ladders/scaffolding, using PPE, working in elevated or confined spaces).
