Purposeof Job
Seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled engineering professional to support combustion turbine and diesel power plant operations, regulatory compliance activities, and engineering support functions for ODEC generation assets. This position is responsible for monitoring plant performance, preparing and submitting operational and regulatory reports, supporting maintenance and inspection activities, coordinating smaller maintenance projects, and providing technical support to operations and internal departments.
The role also supports diesel generation facilities through inspections, fuel monitoring, audit support, and emergency operational assistance.
- Prepare, compile, and submit operational, corporate, regulatory, and federal reports related to power plant operations.
- Prepare the Monthly Operations Report Summary for inclusion in Power Supply Board reporting materials.
- Collect, analyze, and validate operational plant data for submission to agencies including NERC, PJM, and DOE.
- Support NERC Compliance activities by maintaining a working knowledge of applicable standards and identifying potential compliance concerns.
- Maintain documentation, calculations, records, and correspondence in accordance with ODEC Records Management Standards.
- May serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned compliance standards.
- Support operations personnel by investigating operational issues, troubleshooting equipment and performance concerns, and recommending solutions.
- Monitor and trend power plant performance data, including heat rate, output, and operational efficiency metrics.
- Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and operational analyses for engineering and operations leadership.
- Respond to requests for engineering, fuel usage, operational, and performance data from internal departments.
- Review regulatory standards, policies, and procedures and provide technical recommendations and comments.
- Recommend, draft, revise, and maintain engineering-related policies and procedures.
- Serve as backup support for daily generation reporting activities.
- Conduct periodic on-site inspections of diesel generation facilities and document findings.
- Coordinate resolution of inspection and maintenance items with operations and engineering personnel.
- Support Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) audit activities and corrective action completion.
- Assist with preparation for and participation in DEQ and other regulatory audits.
- Monitor fuel oil inventory levels and coordinate fuel purchases with vendors.
- Maintain fuel-purchasing documentation and oil-testing records.
- Support emergency operations activities for member cooperatives, as required.
- Maintain required certifications and technical training.
- Oversee contractors and vendors performing maintenance work at generation facilities.
- Coordinate activities with plant personnel to maintain a safe working environment.
- Verify work performed aligns with approved scope, schedule, and project requirements.
- Assist in resolving technical, scheduling, contractor, or operational issues during project execution.
- Communicate project changes, risks, and budget implications to engineering and operations leadership.
- Participate in project closeout activities, punch list development, and completion verification.
- Maintain project documentation and records in accordance with ODEC standards.
- Minimum three (3) years of engineering experience, preferably within power generation or industrial operations environments.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in project engineering and/or project management activities.
- Working knowledge of engineering theories, concepts, principles, and performance calculations.
- Working knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and compliance standards applicable to power generation facilities.
- Ability to analyze operational and performance data and identify trends or deficiencies.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to develop and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Working knowledge of power plant design drawings, including P&IDs and electrical wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
