GIG Nuclear / Generation Industrial & Government
This position is not eligible for recruiting or sourcing by outside parties. The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 3 days in the office (typically Tuesday through Thursday), with the ability to work from home the remaining workdays. Candidates must be able to travel to plant sites when needed (approximately 6–8 days per month, with the possibility of longer durations).
Education,Experience & Licensure
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university (required)
- EIT (highly preferred) – or ability to obtain EIT within one year of employment (required)
- Previous design experience related to modifications in nuclear (DOE or commercial) plants (preferred)
- Four or more years of experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients and vendors (preferred)
- Ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant (required)
- Basic knowledge of mechanical design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA)
- Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Preferred additional skills include Bluebeam, Micro Station, AutoCAD, Vault, Plant3D, Inventor, ReCap, Solid Works, FARO Scene, and other 3D rendering programs
- Participate in the development of deliverables for nuclear projects within the Mechanical and/or Nuclear discipline
- Report to an assigned Project Engineer and act as a Design Engineer for Mechanical and/or Nuclear projects
- Collaborate with other engineers and designers to prepare design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and other associated nuclear facilities
- Prepare engineering change packages (ECs) and ensure they meet required standards
- Conduct field walkdowns to determine the existing configuration of plant structures, systems, and components
- Strictly adhere to mechanical codes and standards
- Interpret codes, regulations, and standard practices effectively
- Demonstrate adaptability, with proficiency in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within a nuclear power plant environment
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
- Maintain excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers and internal team members in a matrixed organization
