The role is hybrid: will work from the home office with occasional presence in Concord, CA and possible field support.

Work schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day. Regular start time must be 8:30 AM or earlier.

• Perform routine work as a member of a survey party; make precise survey measurements using conventional and state‑of‑the‑art surveying instruments; interpret legal descriptions of real property; create and interpret survey calculations; research, analyze, check, and adjust survey data; research title and compile evidence and documentation for boundary determination. May be required to operate the survey vehicle.
• Prepare maps from field notes, office data, and title searches for condemnation proceedings, rights‑of‑way acquisition, land purchase, government permits, leases, and other land documents. Plotting, plan profiles, road cross‑sections, topography, contours, and special drawings. May be required to check mathematical computations of others.
• Assemble information for, and process, clearing and correcting rights‑of‑way and land matters. This includes preparing legal descriptions of real property; preparing documents necessary for acquisition and disposition of fee property and easements, including complicated and non‑standard documents under guidance; processing permits; preparing and processing quitclaims; securing signatures; inspecting property; investigating encroachments; and preparing clear and concise reports and correspondence.
• Act as the lead person in performing field work necessary to procure data for the preparation of right‑of‑way papers, permits, leases, and other land documents for distribution facilities. This includes coordinating the work of survey parties, leading field surveys, operating survey equipment, taking field notes, and directing other survey party members.
• Perform work of lower classifications as required.
• Work under supervision of an exempt supervisor or higher land classification within the Land Technician or Land Surveyor progression line.

• Land Surveyor in Training certificate (LSIT).
• Prior professional experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for land surveying or civil engineering purposes.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Full qualifications of a Land Technician and demonstrated ability to perform duties as evidenced by quality and quantity of work product; must pass an agreed‑upon written examination to test ability to perform Senior Land Technician duties.
• Ability to direct activities of a survey crew and physical ability to conduct field survey work.
