Senior Geotechnical Engineer 1
Locations:
Costa Mesa, CA or San Diego, CA. Full‑time hybrid position located in either office.
- Lead the execution of project work and proposals on large and/or complex multi‑disciplinary projects in partnership with the project team.
- Demonstrate strong technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
- Coach, mentor, and direct staff in the quality execution of projects and preparation of analyses, technical reports, and other deliverables.
- Align project scopes with client objectives and regulatory requirements to deliver superior client value.
- Leverage learning to increase the technical capabilities of others and the overall technical performance of the company.
- Engage with external organizations, deliver internal and external presentations, and contribute to technical publications.
- Lead geotechnical evaluations, design efforts, and construction procurement support; function as Engineer of Record on geotechnical design projects.
- Play a leadership role on geotechnical construction projects involving construction quality control and field/laboratory testing.
- Lead all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols and demonstrate foundational safety behaviors.
- Master's degree in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related field.
- 6–10+ years of relevant site investigation, geotechnical analysis, and geotechnical engineering construction support experience, including professional services consulting experience.
- At least 1–2 years of Project Management (including financials) experience in an engineering consulting environment.
- California Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain CA licensure within 6 months.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting project information to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
- Emotional intelligence applied to achieve higher impact on project team and client communications.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software.
- CA Geotechnical Engineer license.
- West Coast Seismic experience.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
- OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates desired.
The salary range for this position in Costa Mesa, CA and San Diego, CA is $105,000 – $140,000 annually.
