Operations Manager
Job Summary
The candidate will act as the Piping Superintendent on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, VA; as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field. This position is contingent upon project awards.
Major ResponsibilitiesLeadership / Supervision
- Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
- Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
Planning / Productivity
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Coordinates established area operational plans.
- Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Prepares Field Material Requisition s for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
Safety & Quality
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
Technical
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Experience in combined cycle facilities is preferred.
Knowledge of modularization of piping and pipe racks, above ground & below ground piping systems and line testing preferred.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
- A good working knowledge of ASME B31.1.
- Experience installing, planning, and executing the installation of underground commodities.
- Experience in working in a union direct hire trades environment.
