About the Team / RoleWe are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager within the Corporate Payments Engineering organization. This role blends senior technical leadership with people management, responsible for driving execution within engineering teams and building the next generation of Corporate Payments products, including user interfaces, APIs, webhooks, and data streams.
How You'll Make an Impact- Develop, drive, and execute a long-term vision and strategy for Corporate Payments cross‑cutting and core services
- Collaborate to define and implement a comprehensive architectural roadmap aligned with business objectives, industry best practices, and partner engineering teams
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, empowerment, and continuous learning across engineering teams
- Continuously challenge the status quo and implement mechanisms to reduce time‑to‑market through efficient engineering practices
- Partner with other Corporate Payments engineering teams to reuse development practices and shared components, reducing duplication
- Build, lead, and grow high‑performing engineering teams by hiring, coaching, promoting, and retaining top talent
- Work closely with product and commercial partners to prioritize work, operate from customer requirements, and exceed expected outcomes
- Drive effective monthly, weekly, and quarterly planning, execution, and audit mechanisms across work streams
- Establish and maintain a clear engineering roadmap to ensure alignment, clarity, and motivation across the team
- Maintain career growth plans and provide regular monthly and quarterly feedback to support individual development and progression
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles
- Strong expertise in rapid development and deployment of internal and external services using cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Experience building high‑quality automated test suites, including unit, component, and integration tests, with a deep understanding of the test pyramid
- Solid understanding of security and compliance requirements in cloud and data environments
- Hands‑on experience using AI‑native engineering tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor)
- Proven leadership, team‑building, and decision‑making capabilities
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast‑paced, and evolving environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience building applications in financial services (e.g., credit card products, accounts receivable/payable systems)
- Experience with spec‑driven development
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams, including the ability to build and support self‑managing distributed teams
