Position: Lead Engineer – LOCA & Containment Analysis (Remote Eligible, U.S.)

Job Description Summary

As a contributing member of the LOCA, Containment & Stability Analysis Team, you will perform plant thermal‑hydraulic safety analysis with two‑phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques. You will support reload and design applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (BWRX, Natrium) operating or planned worldwide.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.
  • Exercise general expertise in two‑phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
  • Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, methods implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
  • Collaborate across disciplines with teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to identify optimum customer solutions.
  • Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence.
  • Develop and deliver training course offerings for external commercial requests and for internal audiences.
  • Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in T‑H Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses.
  • M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T‑H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems.
  • Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.
  • Experience with BWR/PWR T‑H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, and TRACE.
  • Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG LOCA).
  • Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications.
  • Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON.
  • Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others.
  • Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity.

Eligibility Requirements
  • The preferred work location is GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; highly qualified U.S.‑based remote candidates may be considered.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information; final offers contingent on obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government.
