Freese and Nichols is searching for a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning team in one of our North Texas offices – Fort Worth, Dallas, or Frisco. The candidate will use their knowledge of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering to develop transportation design and planning solutions.
Responsibilities- Develop and design traffic engineering projects, preparing traffic studies, signal timing plans, operations analyses, microsimulation modeling, and technical reports.
- Prepare project plans and drawings for various projects, including traffic signal design and intersection improvements.
- Perform research, obtain traffic data for studies, prepare calculations, and conduct transportation analyses.
- Collaborate on technical activities for assigned projects, managing project budget and schedule.
- Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas.
- 3+ years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Basic experience using Micro Station and/or AutoCAD, Synchro, VISSIM, and TRANSCAD.
- Familiarity with MUTCD, HCM, and AASHTO geometric design standards.
- Ability to collaborate within a project team setting.
- Self-directed with the ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight.
- Strong time and budget management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications and design.
