This position is responsible for designing fixtures used in the Product Evaluation/Test Department. You will collaborate with Engineering and Management to create effective fixture designs for evaluating prototype and production products and components.

• Design various lab fixtures, including dynamo meters, component loading and holding fixtures, safety test apparatus, and life testing fixtures.
• Prepare fixture design layouts and coordinate with project team members for seamless integration.
• Perform basic design calculations (gear ratios, speeds, weight distribution).
• Liaise with internal specialists (CAE, manufacturing engineers) and external experts.
• Utilize the best available technology in all design aspects.
• Ensure designed parts are manufacturable.
• Maintain accurate parts lists and coordinate part release for fixture assembly.
• Collaborate with design and test engineers to incorporate product designs into fixtures, manage design updates, and resolve issues.
• Utilize CAD/CREO for project‑related work.
• Keep supervisor informed of project status and any required assistance.
• Stay updated on new design, manufacturing, and materials developments.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

• Education & Experience:
  • Accredited technical school degree in machine design and drafting (2‑year course) plus 0‑2 years of entry‑level design experience in mechanical drafting/design.
  • OR Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering‑related technology (e.g., Automotive, Manufacturing, Design) from an accredited university/college.
• Skills & Knowledge:
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in mechanical drafting.
  • Demonstrated design capability.
  • Knowledge of mechanical calculations (force, torque, speed, acceleration).
  • Troubleshooting test fixture operations.
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes: sheet metal bending, welding, machining (mill, lathe, multi‑axis), fastener selection, casting, painting.
  • Basic understanding of general fixture design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of Data Acquisition tools (multi‑meter, gauges, thermistors/thermocouples).
  • Ability to identify and sort relevant information.
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory standards for mobile machinery.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel to test sites.
