What You'll Do and Who You'll Work With

Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects and facility upgrades.
  • Electrical design support for planned outages and design requirements related to equipment troubleshooting.
  • Business development and expansion projects at various operating facilities.

This position will also lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects and programs in the network. The Engineer will provide subject‑matter expertise and lead cross‑functional teams while driving technical standardization as a guardian of certain Electrical Design Standards for Reworld. Acting as a potential mentor for more junior members of the team, the Engineer will share best practices and technical expertise.

This is a unique opportunity to work across stakeholders and groups, with high visibility in the organization, and will have direct, tangible impact on our success. The Engineer will also act as a primary Electrical Engineering SME for the business.

Location / Travel

Preferred location for this role is at our Florham Park, NJ Headquarters. This position requires close collaboration with corporate functions and facilities and will include approximately 20% travel across the network. Travel to domestic locations as well as low‑cost countries such as China may be required. A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Florham Park and across the network.

Compensation would vary depending on the location.

Key Responsibilities Electrical Design (Core Responsibility)
  • Independently develop, review, and approve electrical system design documents including one‑line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, arc flash studies, short‑circuit calculations, voltage‑drop calculations, and coordination studies.
  • Develop scope of work for electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors.
  • Plan design tasks so both the design and construction are achieved within budget constraints and schedule.
  • Assume the duties of technical lead and subject‑matter expert for small to medium capital programs.
  • Electrical design scope includes system design, scope development, engineering calculations, specifications, and risk assessments for HV and MV systems (switchgears, transformers, motor control centers, relay/protection systems).
Engineering Standards (Core Responsibility)
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications for engineering design.
  • Act as guardian of key electrical design standards and specifications as SME for Reworld Electrical Team.
  • Update design standards and specifications periodically to keep up with industry best practices and regulatory developments.
Commissioning / Startup
  • Provide SME design support to project managers on assigned construction projects.
  • Provide engineering support for commissioning and installations for assigned design projects.
Troubleshooting / Problem Solving
  • Provide electrical engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations.
  • Analyze electrical failure root causes and develop cost‑effective technical solutions for root‑cause analyses.
Position Requirements Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain future licensure is preferred.
Experience
  • Must have experience with high, medium, and low voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants, large industrial co‑generation facilities, or design/architectural engineering firms.
  • Must be able to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
  • Must have proficiency in developing and understanding one‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, DC control schematics, wiring diagrams, and GA drawings related to interconnections, substations, power plants, and electrical aspects of process plants.
