Electrical Engineer Consultant
The Electrical Engineer Consultant position with the Department of Corrections (DOC) supports essential public safety work by applying engineering expertise to improve complex systems across the state. This role helps shape dependable and efficient facilities that serve communities every day.
Responsibilities- Design Preparation
:
Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and drawings that follow codes and sound practices. - Project Surveys
:
Conduct site surveys, gather project data, and prepare reports with observations and cost estimates. - Cross-Team Coordination
:
Coordinate project work with internal staff, design professionals, and code officials. - Technical Review
:
Review drawings, specifications, and submittals and provide clear recommendations. - Problem Resolution
:
Develop solutions to engineering issues involving design, construction, maintenance, or operations.
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours:
7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. - Telework
:
Opportunity to work from home part‑time, up to three days per week after initial 6‑month training, provided a secure high‑speed internet connection is available from an approved location in Pennsylvania. Telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary
:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable. - Employees with the required certification or license may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment at the time of hire and each time the certification or license is renewed.
- Two years as an Electrical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title)
or - Four years of professional electrical engineering experience that required work on any structural electrical system.
- Possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
