Job Description
A leading robotics client is seeking a CAD Technician to join their Deployment Engineering Support team in Westborough, MA (preferred; open to remote for strong candidates). This team focuses on designing and deploying robotic systems that automate warehouse operations across a large, nationwide network.
This role is highly design-focused and will work closely with Solution Design and Mechanical Engineering teams to translate approved hardware designs into deployment-ready system layouts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and able to take ownership of design work with minimal direction while maintaining high standards and delivering results.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD layouts for robotic system deployments
Translate approved mechanical design “blocks” into full system layouts for real-world warehouse environments
Create detailed plan and elevation drawings for buildings, work areas, and material handling systems
Work closely with Solution Design Engineers and internal stakeholders to ensure designs meet deployment requirements
Track and update designs as systems evolve and scale
Contribute to the transition from 2D (AutoCAD) to 3D modeling environments (Revit)
Balance responsibilities across:
~30% mapping/layout work
~30% CAD drafting/design
~20–30% expanding designs into 3D modeling and broader system scope
