Job Summary

Provides engineering analysis and technical support to ensure reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC Standards, ERCOT Protocols and Market Guides. Performs electrical engineering analysis for planning and operation, develops system models, tools, procedures, performs studies, analyzes results, and reports findings and recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering studies including power flow, voltage security, and dynamic stability analysis.
  • Run scenarios and input variations to produce robust results, analyze accuracy, assign confidence metrics, and formulate conclusions.
  • Develop and document operating plans, procedures, and limits to support reliable and efficient system operation.
  • Review resource qualification testing, performance evaluation, and system control performance; provide tuning and modifications.
  • Assist in preparing operations reports for management, NERC, ERCOT, and other entities.
  • Analyze operating conditions and events, develop improvement recommendations, and support advanced applications such as State Estimator, Voltage Security Analysis, Load and renewables Forecast, Contingency Analysis, Power Flow, and Transient Stability Analysis.
  • Develop and deploy situational awareness and system monitoring applications for operations, management, and external entities.
  • Provide 24/7 support to the ERCOT Control Room through on‑call rotation.
  • Contribute to specific objectives and outcomes as directed; provide training or oversight to other engineers/analysts.
  • Participate in multifunctional teams, develop tools, processes, and procedures enhancing reliability and efficiencies.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert; provide presentations and stakeholder meetings.
  • Mentor and advise less experienced engineers/analysts.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience as a power system engineer or a similar role in the electric utility industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with in‑depth evaluation of variable factors and ability to resolve complex issues creatively.
  • Proficiency with power system software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required). Equivalent education and experience may satisfy the degree requirement.

Certifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license – preferred.
  • NERC Certification as a Reliability Coordinator – preferred.
Work Location

Hybrid – employees are required to be on‑site in Taylor, TX 2–3 days per week or more as needed. On‑site schedules are flexible and may be rotated based on business needs. Remote work must be performed from a Texas residence.
