Astronics Advanced Electrical Systems (AES) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Cabin Electronics (CE) Product Team in Kirkland, WA
. This is an on‑site position that offers flexibility to work from home part‑time dependent on project needs.
The Cabin Electronics Product Group is the world's leading manufacturer of in‑seat power systems for the commercial airline industry. The group's EmPower® product line provides a variety of scalable power solutions for aircraft passenger cabins and flight decks. Our systems are used by over 280 airlines, IFE suppliers, and all major aircraft OEM manufacturers worldwide.
JOB SUMMARYThe Sr. Mechanical Engineer will support successful development of new complex power solutions for aircraft passenger cabins and flight decks. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, working on problems of diverse scope in support of new product development, proactively engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve engineering issues efficiently.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESEducation/
Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Five (5) or more years of direct experience in the duties and responsibilities listed above and competency with the skills below.
- Ability to develop innovative product designs from concept to production, including initial planning, design, analysis, and documentation of high‑complexity mechanical designs.
- Experience in printed circuit board packaging and cooling techniques for electronic equipment.
- Experience with CAD modeling and analysis tools;
Solid Works, Flow Simulation, structural analysis preferred. - Significant knowledge of multiple fabrication design and manufacturing techniques, including formed sheet metal, machined parts, and injection molding.
- Ability to support engineering testing, including planning, hands‑on testing, and post‑test data processing and documentation.
- Familiarity with RTCA DO‑160 environmental requirements and testing preferred.
- Proficiency with technical documentation practices, including configuration management and PLM tools, working with drafters to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Project leadership, assisting with planning schedules, developing cost targets, and evaluating cost reductions in support of the project goals.
- Troubleshooting and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent collaboration/teamwork and communication skills.
As a US Department of Defense Contractor
, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

Salary
: $94,208 - $141,313 per year. Mid‑point is $117,760.
