Perform quality control on pipe stress reports and support selection charts. Perform FEA evaluation for evaluation of stresses at nozzles, or for determining user calculated SIFs, using Nozzle Pro, FE/Pipe or other FEA software. Select springs/struts/snubbers/Expansion joints when necessary, determine movements/loads, prepare spring/strut/snubber/Expansion joints schedule, requisitions, and review related vendor drawings. Managing a schedule for piping engineering activities and deliverables, preparing estimates, preparing scope of services, preparing effort hour forecasts, monitoring changes on the project, preparing change orders, managing the piping engineering budget and schedule, provide progress reporting, provide quantity trends and monitor quantities, coordinate with various disciplines, participate in 3D model reviews.
Mentoring junior engineers, reviewing their work, and providing technical guidance on stress analysis and piping design. Coordinate with Process and Mechanical disciplines to determine Process data and any special Process requirements or equipment operation modes. Coordinate with Civil/Structural groups to ensure loads are being effectively communicated.
Remote work/ telecommuting from any state where Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. has established a tax entity permitted.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 6 years of work experience in the job offered or related Piping Engineering occupation.
SPECIFIC
SKILLS:
Expertise and knowledge of:
Pipe stress analysis using Caesar II, Auto Pipe. FEA evaluation of stresses pharma piping systems. Analyzing complex piping system for static, Dynamic loading and Seismic Anchor Movement (SAM) due to Seismic and wind drift. Ability to interpret software outputs, validate models and optimize designs based on results. Conducting failure mode analysis and troubleshooting piping system issues, such as vibration, thermal expansion or support failure.
Ability to recommend mitigation strategies, such as material upgrade, rerouting or addition supports etc. Review client technical specifications related to piping flexibility analysis, piping components, fabrication, testing, and NDE, etc. and ensure compliance with the same. Evaluate Pipe supports, developing technical specification, datasheets for Expansion joints, spring hangers, Pipe supports etc. Perform reinforcement evaluation at pipe supports and branch connections.
Industry codes ASME, BPE, EN13480-3, EN13480-6 and API standards.
