What You'll Be Doing

As an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer, you'll work across the full project lifecycle, from early planning through final design:

+ Perform overhead transmission line and structural design (no underground or gas work)

+ Execute engineering analysis using PLS‑CADD / PLS‑Suite

+ Support routing, surveying, planning, permitting, and comprehensive line design

+ Apply advanced engineering judgment to develop, analyze, and optimize designs

+ Identify and resolve complex technical and design challenges

+ Prepare and self‑check calculations, reports, and design deliverables

+ Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams

+ Mentor junior engineers and provide technical review and QA/QC support

+ Assist with proposal development and client or regulatory presentations as needed

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

+ Candidates with varying levels of experience are encouraged to apply

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering

+ 2+ years of professional engineering experience

+

Experience with overhead transmission line engineering or structural analysis related to transmission systems

+ Proficiency in PLS‑CADD / PLS‑Suite

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills

+ Working knowledge of QA/QC procedures

+ Ability to work independently in a remote, team‑based environment

Preferred Qualifications

+ 5+ years of overhead transmission line design experience

+ Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred for higher level positions

+ (EIT or actively pursuing PE also strongly considered)

+

Experience with AutoCAD, Micro Station, Bluebeam, LPile, FAD, or similar tools

+ Utility or consulting engineering experience

+ Involvement in professional engineering organizations

+ Interest in mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albany, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $83.00/hr.
