Project assignments will primarily be in the continental United States and Pacific territories, with all report and other deliverable production tasks to be performed as remote work.
The ideal candidate will meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for both Architectural History and Archaeology, possess strong experience integrating architectural history and archaeology in cultural resource management (CRM), a minimum of 10 years' experience in cultural resource management, and extensive experience managing large archaeological projects and training both field and technical writing staff. As a nationwide specialist support role, the job will involve self-directed and assigned support of business development tasks.
The candidate should have excellent technical writing skills and the ability to produce reports for review by subject matter experts of federal, state, and tribal agencies under Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Policy Act, among other historic preservation laws/regulations. We seek a candidate with specialized technical skills in as many of the following areas which may apply, including, applied technology, historic structure inventory/reporting/form preparation, cemetery archaeology, and graduate training in Archaeology and Architectural History.
Candidates should be able to lead all phases of field work, oversee the production of work plans, management summaries and technical reports, in addition to managing laboratory analysis, QA/QC of GIS data, documents, and deliverables, and participating in business development.
This is a full-time salaried position.
Responsibilities:
* Serve as architectural history SME supporting projects nationwide.
* Conduct and oversee built environment surveys, including historic buildings, structures, and districts.
* Evaluate resources for National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility, including integrity assessments and criteria determinations.
* Complete and review historic structure inventory forms and documentation (e.g., state forms, DOE forms).
* Support and/or lead HABS/HAER/HALS-level documentation for federal projects.
* Develop historic contexts, thematic studies, and significance arguments to support compliance and planning.
* Participate in strategic growth of built environment services.
* Support proposal preparation, scope development, and cost estimating.
* Assist in mentorship and training of staff in both archaeology and architectural history.
* Support Federal, State, and commercial projects with the development of desktop reviews, work plans, technical reports, archaeological and built environment surveys, data collection, monitoring, evaluative testing, and site mitigation across multiple states.
* Work on portions of large technical reports, NEPA documents, and cultural resources management plans.
* Work independently on contract deliverables such as letter reports, technical reports, and work plans.
* Support and report to your supervisor and individual project leads for project needs.
* Support Project Managers to identify, plan, and track project deliverables.
* Work with clients, State Historic Preservation Offices, Tribal Historic Preservation offices, and other stakeholders to meet Section 106 compliance requirements.

* Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to team members in support of their functions.
* Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
* Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
