Abode Energy Management is a fast‑growing energy efficiency program implementer in the Northeast, focusing on electrification and heat pump adoption.
SummaryBuilding on its expertise in residential energy efficiency programs, Abode implements utility and government‑sponsored programs to help homeowners and small businesses electrify and decarbonize their buildings. The Decarbonization Advisor in Massachusetts will provide virtual and in‑person support—including consultations, presentations, and trainings—to help clients adopt heat pumps and other decarbonization solutions.
Responsibilities- Provide virtual consultations to residential customers considering decarbonization solutions, focusing on heat pumps; help clients understand system capabilities, sizing, design, and installation considerations, and compare equipment options using Abode’s proprietary quote review tool.
- Engage with heat pump contractors, distributors, manufacturers, and customers, meeting via virtual or field visits (typically once or twice a week) to share program information and gather industry needs.
- Partner with the team to support contractors and customers, managing a shared inbox/phone line, resolving inquiries, and conducting periodic reviews of contractor certifications.
- Collaborate on the development of program tools and discrete projects, working with internal and external partners to create or improve resources to meet evolving program needs and technology updates.
- Stay current with recommended system design and installation standards for heat pumps, providing fact‑based advice to homeowners and contractors.
- Perform additional administrative tasks as assigned, including answering phone calls, staffing program inboxes, and conducting data reviews.
- Strong technical expertise in residential and small‑medium commercial building science and energy efficiency, demonstrated by a degree in building science, mechanical engineering, sustainability, or related fields, and/or industry certifications such as CEM, BPI, LEED.
- Experience in utility energy efficiency programs, HVAC design or installation, construction, or related businesses.
- Ability to learn industry jargon and translate it into clear, concise information.
- Previous advisory, educational, or customer service experience providing advice or assistance to customers.
- Familiarity navigating government or utility incentive programs.
- Experience working as a contractor or engaging with contractors.
- Availability to travel within Massachusetts as needed.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including 1:1 and group presentation abilities.
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese plus English is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and energy modeling tools.
- Calm, even temperament suitable for meeting diverse people; adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player with a positive can‑do attitude.
- Self‑starter capable of proactively managing competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks timely and diligently.
This full‑time, exempt position offers a starting salary plus a bonus target between $70,000 and $80,000, depending on relevant skills and experience. The role primarily works from the employee’s home office, with occasional in‑person events and meetings across Massachusetts and at Abode’s Concord, MA office.
