Under administrative review, designs and develops all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment and machinery. May be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. A CDE II is familiar with standard concepts and practices, and is expected to display more than the minimum experience in the controls industry.
Experience working on Industrial Manufacturing Process Projects is highly desirable. Continuous process using temperature, pressure, speed, values, mixing and numbers, for example painting cars, missing chemicals etc.
- Proficiency in PLC/HMI software platforms is needed. Rockwell and/or Siemens are the main ones; alternate platforms are an added benefit but those two are the most relevant for us.
- Travel is a pain-point for us right now. We really need candidates to be flexible and willingly accept that 40% travel throughout the year may happen.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology diploma or equivalents, normally with 1 - 3 years’ related working experience from the graduation level.
- Applicant must demonstrate efficiency in troubleshooting existing control systems and equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to work in a team environment is required.
- Up to 10% of time spent in Client/People Management.
- Up to 20% of time spent as a Solutions Architect (building a framework to meet customer needs and applies appropriate industry standards).
- 50% - 80% of time spent as a developer (builds and programs actual system components and follows applicable standards, as directed by Project Managers).
Activities:
- Review and understand scope of supply, budget, and schedule of assigned projects.
- Report budget and scope issues to Project Managers as they arise.
- Complete and report design tasks to Project Managers on or before scheduled milestones.
- Understand and develop fundamental Electrical Hardwire design concepts.
- Gather, understand and archive cut sheet information for assigned projects.
- Sketch design concepts and submit to Project Manager for review.
- Ability to perform computer-aided design work with software such as AutoCAD or EPLAN is preferred.
- Understand and prepare PLC software and HMI designs for Project Management approval utilizing OTI software standards.
- Maintains accurate journal or composition book
- Submits timesheets and project documentation to Administration on-time, every time.
- Ensures that all project documentation is stored on server in the correct location at all times.
Skills and Abilities
- Compensation - $40 - $55 an hour (depending on experience)
- Overtime available after 40 hours
- Weekly pay role
- Yearly bonus program (equivalent to 1 extra month’s salary per year)
