We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a fully remote, production-focused role
. This position is best suited for a self-directed engineer with strong technical fundamentals who enjoys focused design and documentation work, while remaining engaged with project teams and department initiatives.
The role is remote and open to qualified candidates located anywhere in the U.S. Travel is limited and generally project-specific (approximately 4–6 times per year).
While the role is primarily production-focused, opportunities for expanded responsibility—including project management, technical leadership on select projects, and staff coaching—may develop over time based on individual strengths, interests, and project needs.
YourKey Responsibilities
Perform mechanical system design and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across a range of project types.
- Develop construction documents, calculations, and technical narratives with minimal supervision.
- Apply firm standards, applicable codes, and best practices to produce high-quality, consistent deliverables.
- Coordinate with internal project teams, including electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology disciplines.
- Participate in QA/QC reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of department standards and processes.
- Support project teams nationwide on fully remote projects where in-person presence is not required.
- Collaborate with project managers to meet schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
- As appropriate, serve as a project engineer or project manager on select projects, depending on experience and fit.
Provide informal technical support and coaching to younger staff as project needs arise.
- Participate in departmental activities such as standards development, QA/QC initiatives, and technical discussions.
- Remain actively engaged with the mechanical department and broader firm culture despite remote location.
REVIT, Design Master, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam for design and documentation
- Energy modeling and compliance tools such as COMcheck
- Ajera and internal project tracking tools (training provided as needed)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience strongly considered
; candidates with 5–10 years of relevant experience will also be evaluated based on capability and fit - Proven experience producing construction documents in the AEC industry
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. building codes, standards, and common mechanical systems
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while remaining responsive and collaborative
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
FE and/or PE licensure is preferred but not required for this role.
