Project Overview

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early‑works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development that will lead to full EPC delivery this year.

The candidate will act as the Electrical Field Engineer on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston‑VA; as single status, to support preconstruction planning ahead of project mobilization to the field. This position is contingent upon project awards.

Job Summary

In this role, you will support project field engineering by managing work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspections and testing, and system turnover coordination within the electrical discipline. Your contributions will ensure that field engineering activities are safe, complete, and meet quality standards and project requirements. Reporting to the Project Field Engineer, you will collaborate with Field Supervision, other Field Engineers, craft professionals, and additional team members as assigned.

Major

Responsibilities Work Planning & Packaging
  • Coordinate the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Develop installation work packages for scopes of work in support of the construction schedule.
  • Provide support to field supervision in establishing requirements for manpower, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work evolution.
  • Coordinate with other discipline superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
Material Management
  • Initiate requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepare quantity take‑offs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Review material receiving reports and perform material receiving inspections.
Quantities
  • Verify commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
  • Ensure zero‑accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Perform quality control inspections and manage associated Inspection and Test Records (ITRs).
  • Ensure completed work packages and ITRs are submitted to Turnover.
Technical
  • Proactively consider continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Be able to read and interpret design information including single line diagrams, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, and underground commodity drawings.
  • Inspect quality of field installed commodities and ensure installation is in accordance with design documentation. Use GIS and Smart Completions tools to plan and document quality verifications.
  • Complete quality documentation in automation tool through construction and system turnover. Complete Inspection Installation and Test Records for electrical works.
  • Support construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and craft professionals in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Complete final system walk‑downs, deficiency tracking, and close‑out.
  • Complete and review as‑built documentation.
System Turnover Coordinator (Direct Hire)
  • Develop a firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Build system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client.
System Turnover Coordinator (STR / Subcontract Coordinator)
  • Review and approve inspection test plans.
  • Coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittals.
