Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems Engineer

Our client is the largest engineering services provider in the USA. This role is contract to hire and seeks a Fire Protection / Life Safety Systems (LSS) Engineer to support projects central to our clients' operations.
Responsibilities- Deliver code-compliant asset protection and fire/life safety solutions as Engineer of Record.
- Guide colleagues and collaborate with senior design professionals to implement fire protection strategies including fire sprinklers, gaseous agents, fire detection, toxic gas detection, smoke modeling, and explosion prevention.
- Work closely with clients and local code officials, using AutoCAD and Revit MEP to develop BIM models in coordination with architects and engineers.
- Design fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, smoke and leak detection, and security/intrusion systems from BIM models.
- Prepare calculations, equipment sizing and specifications, network diagrams, and construction deliverables in compliance with Life Safety & Fire Codes and industry standards.
- Estimate and schedule mid-to-large‑scale projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with the ability to attain PE licensure.
- At least 5 years of AutoCAD design experience.
- Knowledge of IFC, IBC, NFPA Life Safety Code, and NFPA Fire Alarm & Signaling Code.
- Knowledge and application of NFPA (NEC) and electrical design requirements.
- Knowledge and application of NFPA Hazardous Materials Code.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems and manufacturers' equipment, including VESDA systems.
- Design experience with Fire Alarm, VESDA systems, security CCTV, HPM and Leak Detection.
- Knowledge of design and construction specifications.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Experience leading projects and managing resources.
- Experience mentoring junior staff.
- Design Management experience.
- Design experience in semiconductor or data centers.
- Working knowledge of BIM software (Revit).
Additional Information:
This role involves both guiding colleagues and collaborating with senior design professionals to implement effective fire protection strategies. Candidates should be able to work remotely and travel as required for on-site visits.
