Position OverviewWe are looking for a skilled Fire Safety Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Services Group. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for developing innovative fire protection engineering designs that safeguard lives and property, while also contributing to the creation of resilient and sustainable environments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive designs for fire protection systems, including detailed layouts, basis-of-design documentation, and plans for fire sprinkler and alarm systems.
- Serve as Qualified Fire Protection Engineer (QFPE) for federal projects, performing life safety, fire suppression, and fire alarm analysis.
- Review designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct evaluations of life safety standards, egress analysis, and fire hazard assessments.
- Utilize fire protection software tools such as Hydra
CAD and Hydra
CALC as necessary. - Collaborate with sales staff to respond to client proposals and requirements.
- Meet with clients to discuss their current and future design needs.
- Perform site assessments to ensure compliance with adopted standards.
- Participate in professional conferences to enhance visibility and collaboration.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior staff to foster their development and career growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with a Professional Engineer license.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required.
- Travel may be necessary depending on project demands (approximately 10%).
- A degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Professional Engineering license in Fire Protection.
- Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for federal projects and insurance provider requirements.
- Expertise in designing various suppression systems, fire alarms, and smoke control systems.
- Proficiency in life safety requirements and building code analyses.
