Gas Engineering is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. Gas Transmission Engineering is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas transmission asset family, including integrity management, pipeline services, threat identification and assessment scoping, process safety, and project engineering and design. The Gas Transmission Engineering and Design group (GTED) provides the technical direction and design of gas transmission pipeline projects and supports the execution of the work in the field.
The Design and Drafting group within GTED updates record drawings of facilities based on as-found or as-built conditions at the conclusion of the work.
Oversees day-to-day operations of an estimating team for electric and/or gas operations and reconstruction projects. The supervisor ensures compliance with all standards and requirements while maintaining production levels, setting performance expectations, monitoring progress, and fostering customer focus. Incumbents also contribute to electric and/or gas safety excellence goals by improving safety, reliability, and affordability for asset families and life cycles.
Position requires approximately 10% travel time.
Headquarters base is San Ramon, likely to change to Dublin in the future.
This hybrid position works from a remote office and an assigned work location based on business need within the PG&E Service Territory (San Ramon, potentially Dublin). It requires a mix of on‑site and remote work.
CompensationSalary range:
Bay Area Minimum: $126,000;
Bay Area Maximum: $200,000. Pay will be based on experience, skills, education, and geographic location. This position is also eligible for PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
- Supervises activities of ESC represented or contracted engineering estimators, fostering a culture of safety and leadership.
- Tracks and monitors projects through the estimating process.
- Schedules projects for estimators, monitors progress, provides status updates to project managers, and ensures due dates are met.
- Maintains and develops functional expertise of estimators.
- Manages performance of estimators by monitoring cycle times and estimate quality.
- Oversees interactions between estimators and key stakeholders such as Engineering, Project Management, and support services.
- Recruits, selects, sets expectations, fosters engagement, coaches, develops, mentors, and rewards employees to drive performance.
- Manages union employees.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Prior supervisory experience
- Experience with Drafting, Estimating, 2D/3D CAD
