Job Overview
TE Connectivity Sensors Business Unit is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the Program Management Office global team. Desired location is Hampton, Virginia; remote work will be considered for the ideal candidate.
The project manager owns the project execution and communication with different functions, managing Sensors New Product Development project tasks and priorities. The Senior Project Manager will lead internal cross‑functional teams in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management and Sales. The candidate will also lead communications with the customer throughout project activities, anticipate and alleviate bottlenecks, identify and mitigate risks, provide escalation management, and make trade‑offs to ensure every aspect of the program is properly and promptly executed.
The Senior Project Manager will leverage a structured and systematic approach, applying program management best practices and Lean Product Development principles such as Front Loading, Risk Detection & Countermeasures and Set‑Based Concurrent Engineering to ensure programs meet technical, performance, & product cost requirements and are completed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities- Leverage structured new product development process and stage‑gate frameworks to lead project activities from initial RFQ through the entire project development and release lifecycle.
- Keep projects on track and ensure timely completion within the defined scope, accountable for meeting or exceeding commitments on product performance, cost, cycle time, project cost, and quality.
- Work in conjunction with Engineering, Product Management, Business Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Finance and Sales.
- Conduct regular project meetings, maintain action RAIL, document all information and ensure meeting minutes and data are appropriately shared.
- Publish progress status reports to leadership and stakeholders, highlighting achievements, milestone deliveries and associated metrics.
- Proactively communicate escalations around challenges, gaps, support required and resource needs to address issues before they impede delivery.
- Track and articulate issues, risks and action items; work with owners to resolve items and update stakeholders.
- Apply continuous risk assessment, problem resolution, change management, risk management and resource management best practices.
- Own the scope of the project and the achievement of objectives: financial commitments, timelines, milestones and product quality.
- Serve as spokesperson for the project in internal discussions and external discussions with the customer.
- Continuously assess what is working, what is not working, identify improvement areas and drive continuous improvement.
- Travel as required for customer visits and to assist Business Development/Sales meetings.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline.
- 5‑10+ years of Project Management or PMO experience, with full lifecycle project knowledge.
- Experience defining requirements, managing scope and mitigating risks, and handling dependencies.
- Knowledge of design/product development stages, manufacturing processes, and project management tools.
- Strong financial acumen, experience keeping projects on budget and managing product cost and P&L.
- Experience leading global technology and product development teams in a cross‑functional, multi‑site environment.
- Exceptional fluency in English; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to drive big‑picture goals while maintaining attention to detail.
- Auditor experience (ISO 13485, ISO 19011, AS 9001) and knowledge of ISO 10993, FAR clauses and Military Specifications.
This position requires access to information subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Compensation- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $118,200–$177,300 (dependent on location).
