Join Our Team as an Environmental Scientist II at ARRO!This position supports environmental studies, regulatory compliance, and technical analyses for a variety of environmental and civil engineering projects. The Environmental Scientist II evaluates site conditions, identifies impacts, and develops practical, compliant solutions.
This position reports to the Senior Scientist.
- Under general supervision conducts environmental investigations, performs technical analyses, and supports project execution. Travels to project sites and performs fieldwork as required. Conduct site assessments, environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water), and ecological surveys.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data to support project decisions.
- Prepare technical reports, environmental assessments, and permit applications (e.g., NEPA, wetland delineations, Phase I/II ESAs).
- Support permitting and compliance by coordinating with regulatory agencies.
- Assist with remediation, mitigation, and monitoring programs.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers on project delivery.
- Manage assigned tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and progress tracking.
- Provide guidance to junior staff and review work for quality.
- Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory representatives.
- Maintain accurate field notes and documentation.
- Stay current with environmental regulations and best practices.
- May perform field services such as sump pump or manhole inspections.
- May attend client meetings.
- Works with supervisor to maintain strong client relationships.
- Any other duties, as necessary, to support the mission and values of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Geology, or related field required.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or related field.
- Relevant certifications or progress toward certification preferred (e.g., PG, CEP).
- Valid driver’s license required.
- OSHA 10, EPA Method 9, and/or RCRA training preferred.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Frequent walking, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.
- Travel to job sites with ability to navigate field conditions.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Moderate office noise levels.
- Visual acuity for data analysis, computer work, and driving.

Daily Work Location/HoursHybrid role with regular in‑office presence at an ARRO office. Fieldwork required. Remote work permitted as approved by supervisor.
