This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT:
Planning
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION OF WORK: 4700 Elmore Road
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

The Lead Plan Reviewer for the Zoning and Land Use Plan Review Unit establishes priorities and directs daily workflow. Responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of a training program for the unit. Perform review of plans to assure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances for residential, commercial, industrial, and public use developments. Mentors and trains Land Use Reviewer in the application of Title 21.
Requires a total of two years residential review of which one year includes commercial review for Title 21. Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, code enforcement, and/or a related field and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Associate's degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, Computer Assisted Design (CAD), or a discipline specific to the department and five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, and/or code enforcement and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a discipline specific to the department and three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, and/or code enforcement and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a discipline specific to the department and at least one (1) year of experience as an Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.

* A satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
* A valid State of Alaska driver's license and full driving record at time of hire.
Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
