This position will require onsite support at the Duane Arnold Energy Center supporting project needs. It will start as a remote position and may shift to a hybrid arrangement with three days per week onsite at the office, providing two days of remote work flexibility.
Senior EngineeringPosition Overview
This is a senior structural engineering role that offers a variety of challenging opportunities in designing and analyzing structures for new nuclear facilities, upgrades, and modifications. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team, mentor junior project members, and guide the work of less experienced colleagues.
Responsibilities- Apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design directly within projects.
- Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development for a wide range of projects.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art software to perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
- BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- Five or more years of experience in the design and analysis of structures as part of a project team.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP
2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS. - Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- MSCE degree.
- Experience with design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures.
- On‑site construction support experience.
- PE or SE license.
- Lead others in using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost‑effective designs.
- Direct automation and process‑improvement work, including automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, and generating design documentation.
- Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, reviewing automated outputs.
- Value additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields to support AI‑enabled engineering workflows.
