Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on designing, integrating, and documenting complex aerospace components and systems using Siemens NX and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards. You will contribute to the development of reusable satellite platforms and related infrastructure that help make access to orbit more reliable and routine. The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-stakes engineering environment at the forefront of the next industrial revolution in space.
Responsibilities
* Create, review, and maintain detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs and drawings for aerospace components using Siemens NX.
* Author production-ready drawings that apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards to clearly define part and assembly requirements.
* Develop and maintain model and drawing templates in Siemens NX to improve consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across design projects.
* Perform surface dimensioning for composite components, ensuring that complex geometries are fully and correctly defined.
* Integrate mechanical components into larger aerospace systems, resolving fit, form, and function issues within a multidisciplinary environment.
* Collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to refine designs, address feedback, and ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
* Support design reviews by presenting models, drawings, and engineering rationale in a clear and concise manner.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of design and documentation practices, tools, and standards within the engineering team.
* Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, managing priorities and delivering high-quality engineering output on schedule.
Essential Skills
* Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to author drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
* Proficiency in Siemens NX for 2D and 3D mechanical design, modeling, and drafting.
* Experience creating and managing model and drawing templates in Siemens NX.
* Experience with surface dimensioning for composite components and complex geometries.
* Demonstrated ability to excel and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic, high-stakes engineering environment.
* Background in mechanical engineering with experience in aerospace applications.
* Ability to produce clear, accurate, and complete engineering drawings and documentation.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
* Experience working on aerospace systems, structures, or components.
* Familiarity with the full product lifecycle in an aerospace or high-technology environment, from concept through detailed design and integration.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to mechanical design challenges.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Work Environment
The role operates in a professional engineering setting that supports both office-based and remote work, depending on project needs and team coordination. You will use modern digital design and collaboration tools, with Siemens NX as the primary CAD platform for 2D and 3D design, modeling, and drafting. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, reflecting the high-stakes nature of aerospace development and the ambition to transform access to space.
You will collaborate with other engineers and technical professionals focused on building reusable satellite platforms and related infrastructure, contributing to an innovative and mission-driven culture centered on advancing space as a reliable domain for innovation and commerce.
