The Transportation department in Hartford, CT is looking for a civil engineering intern to help work on various projects predominately focused on traffic design.

Our internship program is a 12‑week paid summer program. We offer in‑depth work experience on real client projects in a supportive and collaborative environment. The position is full‑time Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in traffic studies and data collection
  • Analyze traffic flow and patterns using specialized software
  • Support the design and implementation of traffic control devices (e.g., signals, signs, and pavement markings)
  • Conduct field observations and surveys related to traffic conditions
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for traffic analysis
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on traffic impact assessments for new developments
  • Assist in developing solutions for traffic congestion and safety issues
  • Use AutoCAD and other design tools to create traffic‑related drawings and plans
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Pursuing a degree in civil engineering and/or transportation engineering
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or similiar programs is a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs of equipment
