Overview
We re hiring a Practice Lead for a leading sustainability consultancy with a growing coast-to-coast US operation delivering complex transportation and infrastructure programmes across public-sector clients.
This is a high-impact leadership role — owning technical delivery, engineering standards, and team growth across a multidisciplinary practice spanning highway, bridge, corridor, multimodal, and transit-based improvement projects.
What you ll bring- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) — CT preferred or by reciprocity
- 20+ years of transportation design and/or planning experience, ideally in consulting
- Proven technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams
- Deep knowledge of AASHTO, state DOT, and local agency standards
- Strong QA/QC, design criteria, and risk management capability
- Experience with state/federal funding policies and procedures
- Commercial mindset — able to support BD, proposals, and revenue growth
- Bonus: sustainability principles, environmental permitting, and post-acquisition integration experience
We are seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer (Lead) PE for a full-time hybrid role based in CT, with opportunities for remote work. The Senior Transportation Engineer will lead transportation planning, highway, and roadway design projects, and ensure high-quality solutions are delivered. Day-to-day tasks include project management, overseeing technical teams, preparing detailed engineering designs, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications- Proficiency in Highway Design and Roadway Design
- Strong skills in Transportation Engineering and Traffic Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Demonstrated project management and leadership skills
- Effective communication abilities to collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with relevant design software and tools
- Experience with sustainability-focused transportation projects is a plus
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
