About the Role
You'll be working alongside a host of talented people ranging from early‑career professionals to established engineers and project managers across the Roads business to improve local and strategic networks, based in the London & South East region (Cambridge, London (Westferry Circus), Basingstoke, Guildford or Southampton offices). Working in partnership with National Highways on our exciting and fast‑paced SDF contract, you will be part of a team delivering Highway‑based projects.
Responsibilities- Prepare designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB).
- Develop designs using AutoCAD, Civil3D, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Key Signs and Key Lines.
- Deliver work packages and manage schemes and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Support Project Managers in planning, programming, technical input, pricing, proposals, deliverables and cost estimation.
- Be accountable for self‑checking and certifying designs, documents, approvals and reports.
- Coordinate engineering resources with graduate engineers and technicians to deliver work packages.
- Collaborate with clients and key stakeholders as necessary to deliver schemes/projects.
- Mentor and upskill junior staff, helping them develop professionally and progress towards professional qualifications.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent in a highway design role.
- Working towards IEng or CEng status with a professional institute; professional qualifications are advantageous.
- Highways design experience in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
- Experience complying with Designers Duties under CDM.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Key Signs and Key Lines.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislations, standards and procedures.
- NEC experience is advantageous.
- Passion for design and innovative solutions.
- Initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems.
