This division executes hands-on construction in the infrastructure market, performing mass grading/excavation, drainage, paving, utility work, earthwork, site development, concrete, asphalt for large-scale highway/bridge projects, aviation projects, rail/transit, reservoirs, and heavy water/wastewater. If you have 5+ years in civil estimating for EPC projects in heavy civil or related market area, we would love to talk with you. If you are a prior Superintendent or Sr.

Kiewit’s Central District is one of our largest infrastructure districts, specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete/bridge, water/wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, underground piping, underground utility infrastructure, and more. While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Central and South-Central regions of the United States. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry rather than design.

The position will be located for the Kansas City metro area, in our Lenexa Kansas Area office.

• Develop and lead complete estimates and quantity/material takeoffs for self-performed civil construction scopes of work for design/build, design/bid/build and EPC projects for ground up infrastructure projects (Heavy Civil, Highway, Bridge, Rail/Transit, Utilities, Drainage, Aviation and Infrastructure portions of power plants).
• Review owner plans and specifications to understand the project and develop a plan for the actual construction to serve as the basis for the estimate.
• Review and assist with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates. Review all bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions.
• Conduct site investigations prior to forming a plan of operations to identify problems or unusual conditions.
• Participate in constructability reviews and collaborate with project managers, design engineers, superintendents, clients and other Kiewit districts to align expectations, phasing and scheduling of the work to ensure accuracy within the estimate.
• Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures in the industry.
• Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection; may lead small estimating teams and lead estimates for projects.
• Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions. Consult with clients/owners on issues discovered during bid preparation, design/construction schedule changes, to ensure the estimate stays on track.
