What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to join our microelectronics team at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies. This role is dedicated to the development and implementation of multi‑modal materials characterization platforms for microelectronics. You will be responsible for circuit design, simulation, layout, and tapeout to support system development. This work requires being located (or relocating) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to participate in our vibrant, interdisciplinary research community at Sandia National Laboratories and CINT ().
As Postdoctoral appointee you will pursue research in semiconductor materials, devices, and circuits. The research will involve integrated circuit layout and tapeout, device fabrication, materials characterization, and electrical measurements for device integration.
On any given day, you may be called upon to- Design integrated circuits and oversee device fabrication.
- Design and execute experiments aimed at understanding materials challenges for integrating functionalities with CMOS.
- Collaborate with a diverse team, including experimentalists and theorists, with experience in semiconductor physics and devices.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Relocation will be provided for those that qualify.
Qualifications We Require- PhD, conferred within 5 years prior to employment in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline
- Experience with at least one of the following:
- Integrated circuit layout and tapeout
- Device fabrication
- Electrical characterization of solid‑state materials and devices
- Embedded systems, microcontrollers, and FPGAs
- Instrumentation and data analysis using one of the following languages:
- Python
- Matlab
- C+
- A strong record of technical achievement, as evidenced by first‑author publications in scientific journals. (A publication list should be included as part of the resume.)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
- Experience with cryogenic systems below 10 Kelvin.
- Experience with materials characterization using a selection of the following techniques: x‑rays, electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, Raman microscopy, photoluminescence, and photocurrent.
- Cleanroom experience
