Overview
GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage business combines advanced energy conversion and storage systems to meet the electrification needs of utilities and industries. The Field Service Engineer – Drives delivers commissioning and service support, ensuring proper installation, operation, and maintenance of GE drive and EMS systems.
Roles and Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting activities at customer site locations to diagnose problems and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain documentation such as commissioning procedures, maintenance procedures, and daily logs.
- Install and commission GE Drives and GE EMS systems at customer sites.
- Lead on‑site project management and technical resolution to provide customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate opportunities with the customer service team, parts, other FSEs, repair services, sales, and product engineering teams.
- Advise customers on recommended upgrades, parts, and service opportunities to improve productivity and sell GE parts and services.
- Coordinate maintenance activities, planning inspections, and support engineering teams on customer CMU projects.
- Identify new opportunities and develop effective offerings to improve in‑service equipment reliability and availability.
- Provide on‑call support in response to customer calls for service.
- Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements.
- Support business growth opportunities and marketing campaigns.
Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time on short notice, including on‑board vessels within GE/customer safety guidelines in shipyards or offshore. Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods. The work environment is construction‑type; exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, and other risks. Personal protective equipment required.
Qualifications / Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or Associate degree with minimum 5 additional years of related industry experience).
- Minimum 3 years of field service and/or commissioning experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with GE Drive systems and at least 2 years with one GE Power Conversion drive system (e.g., MV7000, SD7000, MV3000, MD2000, LV7000). Experience with LV/MV Drives from ABB, Siemens, AB, Vacon, and Schneider required.
- Minimum 2 years of practical knowledge of at least one GE Power Conversion drive/controller (e.g., PEC, PECe, CDC).
- Experience with Energy Management Systems for power plants.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude; ability to use MS Office applications.
- Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments requiring engineering skill and independent judgment.
- Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ability to prioritize workload and organize work activities to meet business needs and department goals.
- Independent judgment and creative problem‑solving skills.

$78,800.00 – $, plus geographic differential of 110‑130% in select areas. Discretionary annual bonus eligibility.
