Position: Warehouse Sr. Industrial Engineer - Start-ups (remote)

Job Description

We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to support Ryder's culture of continuous improvement across operations. The Engineer will identify and drive change through data‑driven CI, engineering, and automation efforts to deliver higher levels of performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Summary

The role works across all operational levels, reports to Lead Engineer/CI Manager, and aligns with Operations Management.

Core Requirements
  • Previous start‑up experience (pre or post start‑up)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Manhattan SCALE, Power BI, Snowflake, Slotting software (Ware Bee or Slot3D)
  • Ability to travel 50‑75%
Essential Functions
  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis; map and document processes; identify gaps; recommend and implement process improvement. Develop and manage a continuous improvement plan to drive business value and tangible improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
  • Manage and complete CI and steady‑state engineering projects that improve business results, assess CI initiatives, support go‑live and certification, identify and support automation projects, and regularly interact with management.
  • Demonstrate competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards; coach employees on CI, QA, and Lean principles; apply packaging, layout, and resource‑modeling techniques to improve distribution and/or transportation operations.
  • Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events, leading all stages from charter to sustainment and coaching process owners on lean methods.
  • Provide regular data reports and actions to measure progress against site objectives; recommend inventory or supply‑chain strategy.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain QMS per company/industry standards.
  • Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system.
  • Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements.
  • Perform all QA functions for a start‑up or expansion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain, with 5+ years experience in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing; or Master’s with 3+ years; if MBA, undergrad in Engineering.
  • 5+ years related experience in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Intermediate data visualization (Power BI, Tableau) and SQL/DAX knowledge.
  • Experience with Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S.
  • Understanding of core engineering and data analysis (slotting, labor planning, layout, metrics).
  • Proficiency with CAD (AutoCAD), slotting tools (Slot3D), Manhattan SCALE, TOTM, etc.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, analytics, industrial engineering, and Lean.
  • Knowledge of automation types, material handling, and transportation design tools.
  • Lean Six Sigma, CPM, ISO/QMS (preferred).
  • APICS or supply chain logistics certification (preferred).

50‑75% travel.

Salary: $95,000 – $110,000 per year. Eligible for bonus and long‑term incentive plans.
