Field Service Engineer (FIELD REMOTE, Los Angeles CA)

US Remote - CA. Supports customers located in Los Angeles, CA area. Company vehicle is provided for personal use. Company provides a car, laptop, and phone.

The Field Service Engineer provides highly visible customer support through on‑site installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. The engineer instructs customers in operation and maintenance of the system and serves as company liaison on administrative and technical matters.

• Perform installations, maintenance, validations, and repairs while ensuring compliance with Perkin Elmer’s service standards and key performance indicators.
• Engage with customers to understand their analytical workflows and tailor service offerings, including training, support, and upgrades.
• Enhance account profitability through efficient service execution and by identifying revenue opportunities such as billable work, consumables, and service leads.
• Maintain assigned assets, including tools, test equipment (MTE), telecommunication equipment, and service parts inventory.
• Proactively report improvement opportunities via the quality notification process.
• Attend higher level certification through participation in company‑sponsored training & development offerings.
• Complete all administrative tasks, including time reporting and assigned training.
• Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities.

• BA in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline (including military experience) plus 3 years direct experience with repair of laboratory equipment.
• OR Associate Degree in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline (including military experience) plus 5 years direct experience with repair of laboratory equipment.
• OR High School Diploma plus 7+ years direct experience with repair of laboratory equipment.

• Detailed knowledge of analytical equipment, laboratory environment, and/or instrument control software.
• Vendor‑issued certification on relevant laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety practices as defined by the Company and/or the customer’s site safety code.
• Ability to travel by air, vehicle, and/or other means of transportation as business requires (up to 50% of the time). Valid driver’s license and safe motor vehicle operation.

Must work in controlled laboratory environments requiring personal protective equipment (lab coat, safety glasses, etc.). The job pace may be fast with high completion demands. Must remain stationary more than 25% of the time and occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings. Tasks may involve bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching. May need to lift up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds).

Requires visual acuity for detailed close‑range work. May operate a computer and other office machinery.

Handling hazardous waste may be required; duties include identifying, handling, generating, storing, and labeling hazardous waste. Potential risk to lab‑based hazards such as extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals. May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing.

The annual compensation range for this full‑time position is $71,760.00 to $90,000.00. The final base pay offered will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, and individual qualifications.
