We are seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to support energy and industrial projects by developing accurate Class 1–5 cost estimates, analyzing project scopes, and providing cost and risk insights throughout the project lifecycle.
This role collaborates closely with engineering and project teams, supports procurement activities, delivers clear cost reporting for leadership, and mentors junior estimators while staying current on industry trends and digital estimating tools.
Compensation$140,000 – 175,000

Hybrid, in local Ferndale office Tuesday - Thursday
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed Class 1–5 cost estimates (per AACE International standards), incorporating labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs for oil, gas, and petrochemical projects, including drilling, refining, and process facilities.
- Analyze project scopes, including front-end engineering design (FEED) phases, to forecast costs for upstream, midstream, and downstream assets, with attention to high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) conditions and hazardous area classifications.
- Conduct value engineering assessments to identify cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining required safety integrity levels (SIL) and reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) objectives.
- Integrate quantitative risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations) to account for uncertainties such as regulatory changes, geopolitical risks, and supply chain disruptions.
- Prepare bid packages and evaluate vendor proposals in alignment with client procurement requirements, ensuring compliance with ethical sourcing and anti‑bribery standards.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, project management, and construction teams to ensure estimates support overall project objectives, including sustainability goals and digital engineering initiatives.
- Generate cost reports and dashboards for senior leadership, highlighting variances, forecasts, and recommendations using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Mentor and support junior estimators, promoting consistent estimating practices, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current on industry trends, including digital transformation (e.g., AI‑enabled forecasting), sustainability expectations, and evolving regulatory requirements impacting energy and industrial projects.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field;
Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CCP or AACE certification) preferred. - Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience in estimation within the oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
- Location: This position hybrid with three days in the Ferndale office and two days work from home.
- Proven track record supporting major energy and industrial clients, with strong knowledge of safety management systems, process safety management (PSM), and operational excellence frameworks.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas and industrial regulations, including API 653 (tank inspection), ASME codes and standards, and environmental impact assessment requirements under NEPA.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to clearly present complex cost and risk information to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Proficiency with industry‑standard estimating and risk analysis software, such as Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE), @Risk, or equivalent tools used for energy and industrial cost modeling.
TravelTravel to local clients will be required and there can be at least one day per week for meetings. Travel outside the area is expected to be minimal, less than 10%.
