Mid-Level Piping Engineer (OAK RIDGE) (Hybrid/Remote)
Job responsibilities include the following:
- Perform the following calculations:
- Hydraulic
- Equipment Sizing
- Stress Analysis
- Pressure Relief
- Standard Pipe Support
- Generate piping specifications in accordance with ANSI B31.3 and ANSI B31.9.
- Work with multi-discipline team to plan work and provide pressure piping system designs and associated equipment.
- Perform constructability reviews on drawing packages and at site locations.
- Select pipe supports for metal and plastic piping from catalog supports and design engineered supports when required.
- Generate piping insulation and painting specifications.
- Perform piping safety reviews.
- Assist in the development of general arrangement drawings.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of engineering experience (Preferred)
- Less than 10% travel
- USA citizenship
- General computer skills:
Excel, Word, Microsoft Office tools - Technical computer experience with PIPE-FLO, Caesar II, AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom (preferred)
- Engineering technical writing
- Candidates local to Oak Ridge, TN are preferred; however, candidates with applicable experience and qualifications that are not local may be encouraged to apply taking into consideration intermittent travel.
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried is 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, as well as below the shoulder for same.
No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
Equipment and machines:
Standard office PC, with software will be provided.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
- Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard on the employee or others.
- Must take and pass a pre-employment drug and background check.
