Additive Industries is accelerating industrial additive manufacturing of high-end functional metal components by offering a modular metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) 3D printing system and seamlessly integrated information platform to high-end and demanding industrial markets. With substantially improved reproducibility, productivity and flexibility, Additive Industries redefines the business case for additive manufacturing applications in aviation, space, automotive, energy and high-tech markets.

Function

Description

Additive Industries is looking for a Senior AM Applications Engineer to join the Additive Industries Team in the United States. In this multidisciplinary Process & Application Development (P&AD) team, you will carry out application development activities focussing on the support of new and existing customers. As the technical face of Additive Industries in the field, this role bridges the gap between our engineering innovations and the customer's operational reality.

Responsibilities

As a senior member of the team, you will:

  • Gain a fundamental understanding of the operation and USPs of the Metal Fab, being hands‑on with the system both at our and at customer sites, to ensure the output of high‑quality components.
  • Work closely with a small and dedicated team of P&AD Engineers in Eindhoven to deliver high quality AM parts and successfully deploy these solutions in the field.
  • Manage & deliver our benchmark printing, pre‑sales support & on‑going customer P&AD support activities in the USA.
  • Gain exposure to a wide variety of materials & applications being built by our customers on Metal Fab systems.
  • Find solutions to complex applications from a variety of industry sectors to showcase the Metal Fab systems capabilities.
  • Work closely with our commercial colleagues to support current customers & drive new sales:
    • Acting as the primary technical liaison,
    • Translating customer needs into AM solutions with proven benefit,
    • Travel frequently to customer sites,
    • Conduct live product demonstrations and deliver P&AD training,
    • Understanding firsthand the customer requirements & translating these into viable AM solutions that meet their individual business case,
    • Prepare technical documentation and present their output both internally and to customers,
    • Walk the customer through the decision‑making process, providing feedback on the technical suitability & business case for their applications during on‑site consultations.
Work location and Onboarding

The successful candidate will have access to the facilities of a manufacturing partner company in Carson, California, housing a Metal Fab system & is to be used as a regular home office.

To ensure a smooth start, the role includes a comprehensive onboarding program at our headquarters in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The candidate will spend approximately 2–3 weeks onsite, meeting the team & Team Manager (based in Eindhoven), learning our systems and procedures, and collaborating on practical cases with the P&AD team before returning to the USA to deploy this knowledge.

What we are looking for
  • Proven track record of working through the entire metal AM LPBF value chain, from design through to manufacture, testing and qualification, ideally with exposure to some of the following markets (Aerospace, Defence, Rocketry).
  • Fluent with AM build preparation software tools (preferably Materialise Magics or Netfabb).
  • Direct experience with the development of LPBF process parameters.
  • An in-depth understanding of metal additive manufacturing and its associated benefits.
  • Practical knowledge of the industry standard materials used in LBPF, and their specific applications and market sectors.
  • Knowledge of different powder bed metal AM systems & their relative benefits/drawbacks.
  • An innovative approach to problem solving, with strong attention to detail coupled with a willingness to learn and adapt to situations.
  • An independent driven individual, capable to scope, manage and deliver projects in a timely manner.
  • Clear communication and presentation skills to both internal and external customers.
  • Strong stakeholder management, possessing the ability to navigate through demanding situations between internal and external customers.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites for field deployments and technical support.
  • Hands on experience with metal additive manufacturing processes is a must.
What we offer

At Additive Industries, you’ll be part of an innovative company shaping the future of industrial 3D printing. We offer:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (including FSA).
  • 401(k) plan with company contribution.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Training and career development opportunities.
  • A collaborative and professional team environment.
