Pay StructureEmployees hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote Work OpportunitiesRemote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work per PandP 40-40.
Legal AuthorizationTo be considered, candidates must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage does not provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.
Professional Certification PayThis position is eligible for a five percent (5%) additional professional certification pay with a valid State of Alaska Professional Engineering (P.E.) License. Eligible candidates are required to provide evidence of professional certification.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
- Substitution: A Masters degree in Engineering may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.
- Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
- Valid State of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory Driving Record by time of hire.
- State of Alaska (SOA) Professional Engineer (PE) License in Civil Engineering or other appropriate engineering discipline within 6 months of hire.
- American Red Cross First Aid Certification or equivalent.
- American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or equivalent.
- Illuminating Engineer Society Membership.
