Electrical Designer; Remote​/Hybrid

We are currently seeking an Electrical Designer to support our Oak Ridge, TN office.

As an Electrical Designer in the Oak Ridge office, you will perform a variety of electrical design functions. This includes the development of facility models and construction drawings such as plans, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, interconnection diagrams, elevations and details, schedules and bills of materials. This also includes complete design of lighting systems for buildings and outdoor areas. Lighting design includes fixture selection, model calculations which will determine lighting level for normal and emergency lighting situations.

Activities could include assistance with cost estimating and equipment summary for bills of materials.

The work location for this position is in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

• Associate’s degree in engineering from a certified institution
• Four (4) or more years of electrical engineering design experience
• Construction support experience for Title 3 activities
• Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
• Short Circuit Analysis experience
• Working knowledge of the NEC

• DOE experience desired
• NQA-1 experience desired
• Lighting calculation experience
• Familiarity with 3-Dimensional Applications
• Knowledge of broad range of electrical systems is required, including power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection
• Ability to independently produce construction documentation using 2-D and 3-D applications is required
• Experience in providing construction support or services during construction is required

It is preferred this position be worked full-time in Oak Ridge, TN. There is an option for remote/hybrid work. For people within 50 miles of the Oak Ridge, TN or Denver, CO offices, a hybrid option requiring a person to be in office a minimum of 2 days per week is available. For people outside of 50 miles, a remote option with some travel to the Oak Ridge, TN office is available.

For hybrid and remote work, you are required to provide and work in a secured location as approved by the company within the United States due to the projects that you will be participating in.

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same.

No foot controls necessary.

Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.

U.S. Citizenship required. Valid driver's license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
