Systems Engineer

Job Description

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated individual to join our IT Division as Systems Engineer. The position involves installation and technical support of computer servers and applications within the company, under close supervision and direction. After initial in‑person training, the role may allow working from home up to three days per week.

• Provide installation, training and support for computer server hardware and software using industry best practices in a team environment.
• Monitor server performance for potential hardware problems and deploy appropriate fixes.
• Provide solutions for problems and questions pertaining to server software applications and document specific incidents.
• Provide research and development services for computer server hardware and software.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a similar major (preferred).
• Candidate without a four‑year degree but with several years of relevant experience may also be considered.
• Server installations and maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies such as Windows Server, Exchange, SharePoint, Active Directory, web servers and Microsoft System Center products.
• Knowledge of scripting languages for automation.
• Knowledge of server virtualization technologies.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with container administration.
• Ability to make logical and sound decisions under supervision.
• Willingness to work occasionally outside normal business hours.
• Ability to clearly articulate thoughts verbally and in writing, including business correspondence.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
