The Central Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting the complete lifecycle of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) activities for high-voltage substation projects across North America. This position is essential for ensuring the successful execution of projects coming online, focusing on the integration of technical, commercial, and logistical aspects to deliver turnkey solutions that meet Siemens Energy's quality standards and client expectations.
The Central Operations Manager will be responsible for our Southern Central territory, overseeing manpower scheduling and resource allocation (building self-performance with union labor) for various EPC projects, Mini P&L responsibilities, ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and equipment. This role requires close collaboration with project managers and field teams to facilitate seamless operations and timely project delivery. The manager will develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity across all projects while ensuring compliance with union regulations and labor agreements.
Acting as a central point of communication, the Central Operations Manager will facilitate collaboration among internal engineering teams, external contractors, suppliers, and clients. Additionally, the role will ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and contractual obligations throughout all phases-from pre-construction planning and civil works to electrical installation, testing, and commissioning. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, a technical understanding of substation systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Driving operational execution across EPC substation projects by coordinating technical, commercial, and logistical workflows to ensure seamless project delivery.
* Overseeing manpower scheduling and resource allocation for the Southern Central territory, building self‑performance capabilities with union labor while optimizing personnel and equipment utilization.
* Implementing operational strategies that enhance efficiency, productivity, and consistency across all EPC project phases, from pre‑construction through commissioning.
* Collaborating closely with project managers, field teams, engineering groups, contractors, suppliers, and clients to maintain alignment and resolve issues quickly.
* Ensuring compliance with union regulations, labor agreements, safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.
* Managing Mini P&L responsibilities by monitoring costs, forecasting resource needs, and supporting financial performance across assigned EPC projects.
What You Bring
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
* 10 or more years of experience in operations management, with a must-have background in high voltage substations. Working knowledge of grid operations, energy storage systems (BESS), and substation controls preferred. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
* Demonstrated experience managing EPC projects with a strong understanding of substation construction, manpower planning, and union labor coordination.
* Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and safety management practices for high‑voltage construction sites.
* Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities to remain effective and composed while overseeing simultaneous critical‑infrastructure operations.
