Introduction
AES Hawai‘i is offering a part‑time summer internship (30 hours per week) focusing on renewable energy projects located on Oʻahu, Hawai‘i. The internship runs from June 9 to August 8.
Principal Role & Responsibilities- Gain exposure to green career opportunities within the renewable energy sector and corporate environment in Hawai‘i and beyond.
- Support various teams, including Stakeholder Relations, Communications, External Affairs, and Development, and participate in skill‑building opportunities.
- Attend onsite project tours.
- Participate in internal and/or external stakeholder outreach.
- Travel to job sites and assist with hands‑on work as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled in or graduated within the last six months from a college/university program related to environmental studies, communications, sustainability, business, public relations, planning, or a related field (preference to local Hawai‘i residents).
- Experience or demonstrated interest in the renewable energy industry or sustainability.
- Computer‑literate and proficient with Microsoft applications.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented; able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
- Must be on‑island and able to attend in‑person activities for the duration of the internship; must have access to stable internet for remote work.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast‑paced, and changing environment.
- Team player comfortable collaborating.
- This is a 9–10 week, part‑time summer internship (30 hours per week). It is primarily remote but requires occasional in‑person meetings and event attendance on Oʻahu.
- Intern must be on Oʻahu for the entire duration of the internship.
- The working language is English.
- Relocation is not available for this position.
The expected hourly pay for this position is $21.00 to $30.18, subject to individual factors such as market location, knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include an annual bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave, and parental leave). Details of participation in these plans will be provided upon offer.
