Summary
The Senior SCADA Engineer – Level 4 is responsible for managing multiple SCADA system deployments, ensuring advanced control system functionality, cybersecurity compliance, and industrial networking best practices. This role requires strong leadership in SCADA architecture, automation logic, and cybersecurity implementation.
This position reports to the Senior SCADA and Controls Engineering Manager, or another management person designated by the President. The Irvine, CA office is the primary location, with a remote work schedule. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm or 9:00am–6:00pm local time.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities- SCADA System Development & Integration:
Lead SCADA system planning, deployment, and cybersecurity strategy implementation for utility-scale solar and BESS projects. Develop automation logic and control strategies to enhance plant performance. Manage network configurations, firewall security policies, and VPN setups for SCADA cybersecurity. Oversee SCADA documentation, including cybersecurity compliance reports and interconnection requirements. - Technical & Engineering Expertise:
Provide advanced troubleshooting support for SCADA, EMS, and industrial networking issues. Supervise SCADA commissioning, FAT, and system validation efforts. Optimize SCADA software, analytics, and cybersecurity measures to improve grid reliability. - Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination:
Work with utilities, ISOs, EPC firms, and regulatory agencies to align SCADA system requirements. Manage vendor and third-party consultant engagements for SCADA system integration. - Continuous Learning & Leadership:
Mentor junior SCADA engineers, staying informed on cybersecurity threats, SCADA system vulnerabilities, and regulatory changes. Regular attendance is an essential job duty requirement per company policy. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Management.
- 6+ years of experience in SCADA, control systems, or cybersecurity
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering;
Master’s preferred - Advanced in: programming relays and control devices; SCADA systems and protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850); IT networks and cybersecurity principles; electrical generation and control systems for utility-scale solar or BESS projects
- Advanced proficiency in Visio or similar tools
- Certifications:
Advanced SCADA or cybersecurity certifications preferred - Regular attendance as required by company policy
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Management
- Stationary position for long periods; some sitting
- Move/Traverse as needed; bend, stand, stoop, walk
- Occasional lifting of light to heavy objects up to 10 pounds
- Hearing and speech to communicate with colleagues
- Sight to monitor computer and documents
- Occasional stair ascent/descent
- Travel up to 30% as needed
- Office environment; potential construction site conditions
- May transition to onsite or hybrid arrangement per business needs
