Position: Staff Civil/Structural Engineer

Position Overview

GEI's California Water resources practice is growing, and we are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Rancho Cordova office. The candidate will support GEI’s company wide Structural/Geo-Structural practice and will work on a wide range of water resource projects, including dams, spillways, pump stations, pipelines, canals, water storage, and recharge. The role will support ongoing engineering planning, design, and construction management for these projects.

Responsibilities
  • Support senior staff on a variety of engineering projects focused on water resource facilities and hydraulic structures.
  • Design reinforced concrete and steel structures, prepare construction drawings and specifications, estimate construction costs, and produce design implementation reports.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures related to dams, levees, flood control, hydroelectric facilities, and related projects.
  • Collaborate with senior project managers and technical staff across the company.
  • Evaluate and analyze collected data, prepare technical reports, letters and memoranda.
  • Prepare design calculations, permit documents, and reports.
  • Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and bid documents.
  • Assist with the development of project plans, schedules and budgets.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and support other GEI offices.
  • Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; M.S./Ph.D. preferred.
  • 0–3 years of professional experience in Civil Engineering and Water Resources related fields.
  • EIT Certification strongly preferred but not required.
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong background in earthquake/seismic engineering and finite element modeling; expertise with standard structural engineering software such as SAP
    2000 and LS-DYNA/ANSYS.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to travel to site locations as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license.
