Program / Project Manager, Operations Manager
Manager of Transmission Line Engineer position to manage a collaborative and dynamic team working in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will serve as a Supervisor and Engineering Lead on high voltage electric transmission line design projects of overhead and underground systems for utilities nationwide and regionally. The role involves applying NESC, ASCE, ACI, NEC, and other applicable standards in the design of capital and maintenance projects ranging from 34.5 kV to 765 kV.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead engineering analysis, bidding document preparation, plan and specification development, and procurement and construction documentation.
- Collaborate with project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management teams.
- Develop and manage a direct‑report engineering team.
- Manage client relationships, proposal development, scope creation, and project management.
- Apply AI, automation, and digital design platforms to streamline grid modernization.
- Convey clear expectations, goals, and vision to the team.
- Manage performance of direct reports, motivate, coach, mentor skilled professionals, and delegate project work.
- Facilitate collaboration and conflict resolution to achieve successful results.
- Practice diversity and inclusion behaviors and business acumen to support project performance metrics.
This hybrid work position offers remote work for candidates located in Pennsylvania or Indiana, with relocation assistance for those able to relocate within a commutable distance to Walled Lake, MI;
Cranberry Township, PA; or Indianapolis, IN.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering and twelve (12+) years of experience designing high voltage electric utility transmission systems.
- Professional Engineering Registration in at least one U.S. state or equivalent.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, POLE, TOWER, SAG
10, LPILE or FAD, and Microsoft Office. - Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Five (5+) years of supervising staff.
- M.S. degree in Structural Engineering.
- Track record of outstanding communication and serving as primary client contact.
- Business acumen with experience meeting key project performance metrics.
- Flexibility to work onsite at a Leidos or client office and accept periodic travel.
- Passion for mentoring and staff development.
