Are you ready to step into a fulfilling leadership position with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)? We are excited to welcome a diligent Civil Engineer Manager (Transportation) to take on the role of Assistant Plans Engineer. Through your work, you will guide major transportation projects from early design through final delivery. Your efforts will help to shape safe and reliable systems used by Commonwealth communities everyday.
Responsibilities- Design Oversight: Review and approve project design submissions to ensure compliance with engineering standards and policies.
- Project Planning: Develop scopes, budgets, and schedules while guiding teams through project development from start to finish.
- Technical Leadership: Provide engineering expertise, recommend safety improvements, and certify plan quality through professional review.
- Team Management: Supervise project engineers and design staff by assigning work, coordinating activities, and supporting project completion.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Represent the Plans Unit at meetings and coordinate with internal units, municipalities, and consultants.
- Documentation Review: Conduct final plan reviews and ensure all construction and design documents are accurate and complete.
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break.
- This position may be eligible for an alternate work schedule (AWS).
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home part‑time. Telework requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location within Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you can report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at a starting annual salary of $82,621.00 (before taxes).
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of professional civil engineering experience including three years in the appropriate specialty and one year directing the work of civil engineers.
- Special Requirement: Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Condition of Employment: Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Post‑Employment Requirement: Successful candidates with an out‑of‑state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Pennsylvania Professional Engineer license within their initial six‑month probationary period.
- Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
